Last April 25-27, 2019 our team from Pinoy IP Works – Fortun Narvasa & Salazar participated in the Manila FAME trade show. Manila FAME is a bi-annual premier design and lifestyle event that showcases craftsmanship, design innovation, and artisanship in Philippine products. It is the second longest running trade show in the Asia-Pacific organized by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).
With the theme “Heritage Re-imagined”, the trade show highlighted products from its past editions and added avant-garde rendition of products that brought out nostalgic bliss. The trade show was segmented into different design settings such as Fashion E-tailers, Artisans Village, Great Women Project, and Design Commune. The entire event was truly a spectacular showcase of Filipino ingenuity of exquisite craftsmanship and mastery over sustainable products that requires protection from potential cultural appropriators.
As part of our effort in enabling Filipino communities to benefit from their ideas and in raising awareness on IP, our team provided exhibitors, trade buyers, and guests free consultation on how they can protect and commercialize their IPs by setting standards for the sake of global competitiveness. Our visibility placed us as a first line of response to the participants with regard to the market demands and requirements of their brand. This empowers the Filipino IP (copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, geographical indicators) economically, socially, and politically through their development, legal utilization, commercialization, and their roles in enabling creativity and innovation. The prosecution of IPs establishes the Philippines as a reliable source of high-quality, design-centric, and competitively-priced products.
